Introduction

A platform where users share their financial data with AI assistants, so they can ask financial questions and get better insight into their organisation’s finances.

I worked with the Ever team. My role was designing the user experience and UI of Ever, and I was involved in designing the brand.

Understanding the gap between tools and insight

To understand exactly what entrepreneurs and accountants are struggling with, we started with conversations with both target groups and analysed existing accounting software. What became clear: commonly used tools are mainly functional, but provide little real insight. This often makes entrepreneurs feel insecure about their accounting, and they miss a place where they can quickly see what’s going on.

Based on these insights, we focused on a design where users can chat with multiple AI assistants, each with their own specialty.

During the design process, I worked closely with the founders to sharpen the core values of the platform. Our starting point was a calm UI that provides immediate overview without overwhelming, combined with an accessible and understandable user experience for everyone.

Designing AI assistants that feel trustworthy

A few questions shaped the design:

• How do you translate accounting information into clear, human insights without losing nuance?
• How do you design AI assistants that feel transparent, reliable, and safe, so both entrepreneurs and accountants can trust the platform?
• How do you keep the accountant involved in the process, while preventing the tool from creating extra work for them and actually helping to make their tasks faster and more organised?

Design

In this project, we worked feature by feature. I designed the following parts of the web application:

• Chat functionality with multiple AI assistants.
• Task management for accountants.
• Financial documents and file overview.
• Importing and migrating financial data.

Document editor for writing structured financial reports, with an insights report alongside

Importing financial data — mapping columns from an uploaded CSV to the right fields

Result

The complete design was built by development. During user tests, entrepreneurs could work with the AI assistants without explanation, which confirmed that the interaction was clear enough. Test users also indicated that the interface is calmer and more organised than the accounting software they’re used to.
